Alternative Filtration Systems
The milling process requires airflow to aid particle size and to transport the material internally through the machine. For industrial applications, a reverse jet filter can be used. This jet filter cleans the air through ultra-fine mesh filter bags, which are automatically and continually cleaned by blasts of reverse compressed air. No product is lost in the exhaust air stream and the whole grinding system is maintained under a slight negative pressure, so there cannot be leaks of products at joints.
Permanent bar magnets are fitted across the width of the mill intake hopper, or a plate-type magnet with hinges is fitted into the feed duct for easy cleaning.
The mills are manufactured to be robust with a thick mild steel plate. The heavy-duty rotor is fitted with large, four-way, reversible hammers in tempered steel. The rotor has a large diameter shaft running with special double roller, heavy-duty, roller bearings.
The grain is introduced to the mill via the hopper, the material flow must be regulated and even (optional feed mechanism required, for optimal results). In the milling chamber, hammers rotate at high speeds to pulverise the material in to particles small enough to be drawn through the screen by the fan. The milled material is then conveyed pneumatically into the collection cyclone, and is then discharged in to suitable receptacle. Fine dust from the top of the cyclone will be trapped by the filters.
Metering devices are required for grain grinding – to ensure that the feed is evenly spread and regulated – rotary, vibratory or screw type are available.
Automatic control of the feeder, to match the maximum available load on the motor, allows the mill to constantly run at optimum capacity.

May be fitted to cyclone outlet to ensure airtight connection – either to optional two-way bagging device or to a holding hopper.
For applications such as breaking (not grinding) the mill can be equipped with a specially designed rotor running at reduced speed and arranged for gravity discharge from the milling chamber.

The Alvan Blanch Supervac series Hammermills are designed for milling grain in to flour, or to act as part of a larger feed preparation system. They can also be used for the grinding of non-granular materials, such as cassava chips, maize cobs, and straw (with optional chute).
Grain is tipped into the ground level suction feed hopper, from there, it is drawn by the powerful effect of the fan. Air is controlled by a slide that can be opened and closed when needed, letting in air and therefore reducing the volume of grain sucked from the feed hopper. The optimum feed rate from the hopper will be determined by the product processed. An ammeter is provided with the electric version, so that peak loading can be achieved.
Within the milling chamber there are hammers, rotating at high speed, to pulverise the material into particles small enough to be drawn through the screen by the fan rotor. The milled material is conveyed pneumatically into the collection cyclone, from there, it is discharged into the two-way bagging system. The two-way bagging device greatly improves productivity and ease of operation, as it enables one bag to be filled whilst the other is being removed.
The Supervac mills are of a robust construction, unlike many other competitors in the market. The main body is 3mm plate and the cyclone is a 1.6mm thick steel. A wearing plate is bolted into the lower section of the mill body. The mill rotor, which consists of four-way reversible hinged hammers of tempered steel, is built of 6mm and 10mm plate and mounted on a 45mm diameter shaft. A powerful fan rotor is fitted to the same shaft, and the full circle screens are available in a wide range of perforations and are easy to change. The suction feed hopper has been positioned at ground level – for ease of use. The Hammermill incorporates a stone trap, as well as a magnet. The new highly efficient cyclone reduces dust at the discharge point and is equipped with a two-way bagging device, with quick release sack clamps as standard.
Due to the powerful suction effect of the fans, the feed hopper can be positioned away from the mill (via extra pipework).
For non-granular materials (straw etc) a special direct feed chute is fitted – this incorporates a control slide for flow control when used on grain.
Filter stocking arrangement can be coupled to the cyclone outlet to collect fine dust.
Mill Mix Combination:
The cyclone can be mounted on an Alvan Blanch meal mixer for animal feed milling.
